You want one stove big enough for a great room or the whole house, with heat that lasts. The HearthStone Mansfield is made for that. Pick a stove sized wrong and you either chase a cold room or cook yourself out of it.

What Makes It Special

The Mansfield is HearthStone’s largest soapstone stove: over 230 pounds of soapstone and a deep firebox with plenty of room for big fires.

HearthStone’s TruHybrid system adds a third, catalytic stage to primary and secondary combustion, for a burn clean enough that a roaring fire shows no visible smoke from the chimney and that surpasses the 2020 federal clean-air standards. You can still burn high and hot or low and slow.

Possible Downsides

• It is a wood fire. You load it, tend it, and carry out the ash.
• The ash pan is optional.

If you want steady, long-lasting wood heat, the HearthStone Mansfield is the right decision. On the coldest night, the house is warm and the fire is the reason.
