Who It’s For

An open main floor loses heat fast, and a fireplace that only looks warm will not keep up. Your fireplace should earn its spot on the wall all winter. You need a large fire with real output and a fan to move it. The 8KX is for the homeowner who wants the fireplace to be the room’s main source of comfort. Pick a lighter model and you live with cool corners; pick the 8KX and the warmth reaches across the room.

What Makes It Special

It has the highest output in the 8K family and comes with a variable-speed fan, so heat moves out of the firebox and into the space.

Anti-reflective glass, premium ceramic fiber logs, and LED-lit embers give the fire depth day and night. Factory interiors include Serene Jute, Tranquil Greige, or Calm Umber brick or a two-sided black glass liner, with birch or driftwood log versions.

Possible Downsides

• A front is required and sold separately.
• Several factory versions are natural gas only. Glass-liner, birch, Calm Umber, and driftwood packages ship for natural gas.

If you want the most capable 42-inch fire in the line, the 8KX is the right decision. The whole main floor stays comfortable, and the fire still looks like the best seat in the house.
