Who It’s For

Heating the main floor with wood should not mean tending a fire all evening. You need a midsize stove that holds a long, even burn on its own. The Forge & Flame Millennium 3100, featuring Quadra-Fire burn technology, is for the average-size home where wood is the everyday heat. With a manual stove you are up and down all night; with this one you stay put.

What Makes It Special

A load can burn up to 10 hours, long enough to carry an evening fire into the early morning.

Automatic Combustion Control does the startup for you: extra air at first, then it closes by itself in about 20 minutes. Boost it anytime the fire needs more.

It stands on a pedestal with a cast iron arched door and takes logs up to 16 inches.

Possible Downsides

• The fan is sold separately.
• The 4300 takes longer logs and burns longer.
